Radio Killed The Hindernet Star...

As you have probably already guessed, my love affair with reposting other people's thoughts, music and photos on the hindernet has finally fizzled out. This is mainly due to the fact that I have a weekly radio show on Manchester's ALL FM 96.9 which takes time to prepare, coupled with expensive drinking and record buying habits and the fact that I just don't think anyone's really that interested... I'm over it.
Seriously.
Not a problem.
Really.
Anyway, check the radio show. You can listen live on your radio every Tuesday from noon or go to the ALL FM WEBSHITEto listen to it on the hindernet or check the archive on Mixcloud HERE

Antimix on Mixcloud

I've recently uploaded ANTIMIX ONE, TWO, EIGHT, ELEVEN and FOURTEEN to MIXCLOUD alongside the FROM THE ARCHIVE cut & paste jobby so, even if they are no longer available to download, you can still have some ropey Fish selections to listen to on your way to the launderette. Lucky you.

Antimix 14...

I'm guessing that everyone's had sufficient time to recover from Mr. Krum's £18 worth of super duty tough work that is/was ANTIMIX 13 (none of the records he used cost more than £1, apparently) to move onto the next in the series which has been compiled by no-one's favourite antisocial, balding, drunken DJ and beatmaker who talks about himself in the third person on a blog that nobody actually reads, Fish.

This one was put together during a particularly punishing schedule of getting drunk, smoking cigarettes, painting graffiti, scouring Facebook for things to reblog, scouring the hindernet for porn (for, ahem, research) and rearranging little bits of people's music for other people to do rapping over.

It's the usual reasonably subtle blend of old and new, drum heavy, sampled and sampleable jazzfunkpsycherocksoulandthat which I'm sure you've probably heard before but, it's not costing you anything -other than about 200mb of precious hard drive space which, let's be honest, you'd only fill with filthy pictures anyway - so, stop your complaining.

Unfortunately, the links for these compilations are becoming more and more difficult to keep live (home taping is killing music don't you know!) so you had probably better CLICK HERE TO DOWNLOAD NOW before it disappears into the ether forever...

Mr. Krum - Antimix 13...

The second of this month's low-budget themed ANTIMIX comes from Vinyl Veteran and graphic designer, Mr. KRUM who, as well as compiling a great selection of music, also found time to write a few lines about each of the featured tracks which you can check out (along with his work for independent labels such as SLICE-OF-SPICE, KING KONG HOLDING COMPANY, DIGGERS WITH GRATITUDE, BREAKIN BREAD, BLUNTED ASTRONAUT, PROJECT BLUE BOOK et al...)HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE HERE .

Here's what the man himself had to say by way of introduction...

"OK, so I wanted to call this mix the 'Poundland Edition' as every record on here (bar one) cost me no more than one English pound.
Andy Westbury from Eldica in Dalston asked me the other day what's been my best charity shop/boot sale find, which is pretty much an impossible question to answer as most of my Soul, Funk, Jazz, Breaks, etc, has been picked up cheap over the years from these types of places so, I decided to sift through the collection and pull out some of my favourite/most memorable finds.
Instead of making choices based solely upon rarity, I've tried to put together a selection that, although not actually a mix as such, still has a fluency to it - that's the idea anyway! It's also given me the opportunity to include a lot of records I don't usually get a chance to play out, which is nice :)"

This rather splendid mix is now available as a free download unlike three sacchariferous syllabubs; which are quite frankly the sweet of choice for massively posh sods....

Antimix Eight...again...

I know that I already posted this but I've had to move it from it's original location due to the large amount of pricks from France and Belgium that insist on spamming the original page...anyway, here's the description...

Blah, blah, blah, excuses, blah, blah, blah, drum-heavy, blah, blah, blah, old and new, blah, blah, blah, vinyl, blah, blah, blah, tired, blah, blah, blah, lazy, blah, blah, blah, bald.
Enjoy.

Antimix Five...

This month's installment of ANTIMIX is brought to you by Mr. Joey Average - a beat maker, producer and emcee better known to the world as AVER - who has compiled a bluesy, smoke-filled selection from his collection that i'm sure, given the amount of shows that DAYSE & AVER have played over recent months, at least a few heads amongst you may recognise. Either way, you can download it for free, along with the tracklist, RIGHT HERE so get to it.

Antimix Three...

Yup, another selection of drum-heavy music, wrapped up in a reasonably warm winter coat and uploaded to the hindernet for your listening pleasure.

In an effort to keep things interesting, the third installment in the ANTIMIX series has been compiled and pieced together by AT LARGE and TNC affiliate, INK13 and is available to download, complete with tracklisting and ever shoddy artwork, HERE

You can catch Mr 13 playing golden-era hip hop, modern day classics and rare gems alongside OMAS & ORKO at the ever popular booze and rap fest that is THE BOOM BAP ROOM (Centro, 74 Tib Street, Manchester) every third Friday of the month.

It's FREE to get in, by the way.

Skip Proof Drums...

A couple of days ago, my better half returned from working at the local university with around 300 rock records that she'd saved from the skip. I've since whittled the collection down by a hundred or two and whilst I haven't had a chance to go through them all yet, here's a few of the more blatantly obvious beats that were saved from landfill...
